Sharda Johnn

Chairwoman

Sharda’s journey with THE WRCS began in 2005, driven by her love for animals. She dedicated herself to the organization, even serving as its secretary while being an active member. Her journey took her to China, where she pursued academic excellence, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management (HRM) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (PA).
Sharda’s ambition led her to achieve her dream of becoming the first full-time International Fashion Model from Suriname. Now, back at her roots, she channels the same determination and passion into elevating THE WRCS to unparalleled success.

Derrick Alibahadoer

Treasurer

From a young age, Derrick’s life was intertwined with the lush jungles of Suriname. His journey began with family camping trips in the Surinamese jungle, instilling in him a deep love for nature. In 2006, he joinedThe Wildlife Rangers Club of Suriname (THE WRCS), setting the stage for his dedication to environmental conservation.  Working for EBS NV allowed him to explore Apoera and witness the changing landscapes, sparking environmental concern. Today, Derrick is on a mission to educate and inspire youth about nature’s importance. His mantra: “If not now, when? If not me, who?”

Narelle Coutinho

Commissioner

Narelle is a VOJ-level teacher and has been a nature enthusiast from a young age. She enjoys trips outside Paramaribo, where she immerses herself in nature, tranquility, and social warmth. In addition to her love for nature, she has a deep passion for working with children, appreciating their energy and eagerness to learn. As a teenager, she participated in various camps where Rangers served as guides. From her first camp, she wanted to become a Ranger, but she was too young, and no recruitments took place. Years later, she saw a recruitment call. Without hesitation, she joined as an intro-Ranger. Now, years later, she is a proud Wildlife Ranger, thrilled that the organization has been revived to continue its vital mission.
